Fearless, the creature stands in a small clearing, firmly anchored to the ground on its legs; cautious towards the intruder who approaches; as alert as curious is its posture. It looks friendly despite being ready to run if needed. We establish eye contact, she is focused; antennas to the sky. Her rough skin, aged by layers of rain and smaller crawling creatures, sways under my hand as I pet it respectfully. I walk around it; the kind being swallows me gently and allows me to look at the forest through its many clear eyes. After sharing warmth and the mutual digestion, I walk away under a sky with young stars, leaving her glowing from within.
