Far away, there exists a composite creature comprised of nine interlocking conceptual “columns”. Seemingly defiant to gravity, each column is more top-heavy than bottom-heavy, resisting a conventional relationship of compressive force. Instead, the plan of the columns is shaped to interlock with one another to introduce a stronger brace between each other, sharing a new datum that is at a higher elevation point than the true ground.
Each column, in their own way, contains the base-shaft-capital composition. At times, such as the instance of the chimney, the column is entirely “base” only. In other cases, the materiality of the shaft above the concrete base disappears into mere air, with physical matter reappearing at the space of the capital.
Like the rings of a tree, each column has its own ring of spools. Starting at the center of the column, the base of each column eventually spiral out into their own shapes - hexagons, rectangles, and other geometric patterns. However, it is through the force-fitting of the shapes that the locking of the nine parts can be possible. Like a cluster of wrestlers pushing laterally at one another, these nine columns are forever puzzled together in the woods.
