Those who have spent seasons in Ithaca know it for its erratic and temperamental weather. Its strong lake effect can turn a sunny day into a snowstorm or a torrential downpour in an instant. The design-turned-construction-team suddenly found itself diving headfirst into a day-long foundation pour during precisely one of these moments. Just as we finished pouring the final bag of concrete to anchor the cabin to its site, the last of the raindrops fell, and the sky began to clear. A celebratory barbecue could be the only way to end a day so unusual, yet so typical of Ithaca.
